Equal Opportunity Act 1995 (Victoria)

The Equal Opportunity Act 1995 was amended to cover family responsibilities by the Equal Opportunity Amendment (Family Responsibilities) Act 2008. It will be replaced by the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 on 01 August 2011.

Both acts make it unlawful for your employer to unreasonably refuse to accommodate your parental or carer responsibilities in your work arrangements. Requests for flexible work must be seriously considered by the employer.
